Candace Surface

As a 4th generation Nashvillian, Candace Surface has deep roots in the Nashville community and is committed to serving the place she calls home. In 2010, Candace began working for Barefoot Republic Camp, serving as Program Director, Development Director and Residential Camp Director over 8 years. Candace also worked intermittently as a teacher, school soccer coach, and church youth director. In 2017, Candace furthered her commitment to nonprofit work and strengthened her skills with a Masters in Nonprofit Management from Lipscomb University, along with a Rule 31 Conflict Mediation Certificate. Through her experiences gained in her nonprofit work and through many conversations with others in the field, she began to realize an ongoing need in the community: one of overall health for those working in helping professions. In 2018, Candace accepted the position of Executive Director with Day 7, a nonprofit that provides wellness and self-care resources to nonprofit and ministry staff in order to: alleviate burnout, promote individual and organizational health, and support a more effective and sustainable service community at large. Candace’s work with Day 7 allows her to use her leadership skills, nonprofit experience and commitment to help individuals and local organizations thrive.
